Although this video is unaffiliated with Oil Painting, still, it presents a different Artist’s Viewpoint.  The viewpoint is now seen from the motion perspective to convey an episode of ideas and emotions.

Motion picture is now an emerging media entertainment in Viet Nam.   There are many factors which contribute to this new emergence, vastly due to the influence of Hollywood and Asia regional media filmography.  For that reason, Viet Nam is gradually catching-up new techniques and adopting new filming viewpoints.  The film industries are growing both from theatrical ends and consumer’s state of the art theater centers.  This constitutes a more appealing and attracts larger audience crowd and therefore boost the filming markets.

The above trailer is an example of Viet Nam’s new up-coming movie soon to be released on December 14th2011.

Web Link Exchange network

Website promotion is by far one of the most challenging tasks for every webmasters.  Every webmasters have to endure through major search engines’ lengthy page indexing and caching process.  The worst part is that these processes aren’t always clear and direct and progress tracker isn’t always straight forward nor made available.  This dilemma leads to constant frustration because a webmaster does not know if he/she is doing things in its most efficient manner.  The problem isn’t apparent until months or years later when the webpage he/she manages does not increase its PageRank (PR).

There are lots of gray areas in page indexing and caching because the algorithm used by major search engines such as Google or Bing, are extremely complex and constantly undergo changes.  Fortunately, there are things known for certain because Google publicly released their webmaster tips.  As a rule of thumb, a well-built page must always include rich content and is viewers centric.  Consequently, as more people find the webpage helpful and informative, they would want to revisit the page again.  This creates a network of interconnected webpages of related contents.  This process is called Build Linking and is known to be highly favored by Google.  The more links directing to a page, the more credit that page earns.

There are three methods which links are categorized: One-Way linking, Two-Way linking and Three-Way linking.  One-Way link is by far the most beneficial method a webpage may gain.  One-Way linking is when other pages link to your page but there exist no out-links from your page to their links.  Two-Way link is also known as reciprocal links and isn’t be favored by Google.  This link works when your page link to other page and the reciprocal page also link back to your page.  Google will detect reciprocal links and does not give much credit for this type of linking; in some cases, this would have an adverse effect on your page ranking.  Three-Way link is a bit more complex and involves more than two sites to work together.  A-site links to B-site, B-site links to C-site, and C-site links to A-site.  This process can get very complicated overtime and requires too many managing tasks to make it work.

So as a webmaster yourself, what do you choose for the website which you manage?  Well, there has to be a solution, how else are other people doing it?  We must leverage on the current web network to take advantage of the One-Way linking.  VoltRank currently offer free One-Way linking system and has thousands of members.  Visit VoltRank’s URL:  http://www.voltrank.com/?a=286692  and register your webpage with them.  It’s a simple setup process and they promise to help your page.  Hey why not… it’s free!

Custom Oil Portrait-Dry Brush Technique

Posted on January 31, 2013 by Loc Pham

Enjoy this short custom oil portrait video referenced from YouTube drawn by a very unique talented man.  This is Oil Painting’s dry brush technique which have emerge in recent time.  The downside to dry brush technique is that it lacks smooth appearance that washes or blended paint commonly have.  The upside however, is the process speed an artist may advantage to be able to complete the painting; less time to wait for oil paint to dry.   The process which Artist Viewpoint’s artists practice and use is the traditional oil painting technique.  The process is lengthier due the medium use.  This traditional technique blends paint and oiltogether and has the ability to create the smooth appearance and glowing effect overtime.

Effective web search techniques

I’ve ran across the article written in Google about how to effectively use the search engine and thought it’d be helpful to also spread its use here in this blog.  For full blown version, checkout their link at: Basic Search Help.

  • Phrase search (“”)  – Placed around set of words to search the exact word phrase.
  • Search single word exactly as is (“”) - Tell Google to not search for synonyms.
  • Search within a specific website (site:) – Proceed the search word in-front of site:artistviewpoint.com to only search for contents within that site.
  • Terms you want to exclude (-) -Exclude pages which contain the -term.  The hyphen can also be placed in-front of -site: operator to exclude the specific site from listing in the search result.
  • Fill in the blanks (*) -Powerful feature to tell Google to match any word in place of the wildcard.  Try this out: World * Day.
  • The OR operator
Google’s default behavior is to consider all the words in a search. If you want to specifically allow eitherone of several words, you can use the OR operator (note that you have to type ‘OR’ in ALL CAPS). For example, [ San Francisco Giants 2004 OR 2005 ] will give you results about either one of these years, whereas [ San Francisco Giants 2004 2005 ] (without the OR) will show pages that include both years on the same page. The symbol | can be substituted for OR. (The AND operator, by the way, is the default, so it is not needed.)

Error Msg: 301 Installing Voltrank

Posted on January 31, 2013 by Loc Pham

If you’re using installing Voltrank plugin but receiving the following error 301 message when Voltrank tries to verify the link, then chances are, your web.config file is causing this problem.

For my problem, the problem was caused by my effort to follow SEO best practice and performed URL rewrites.  I attempted to rewrite all my URL to lower case letter.  URL is suppose to be case insensitive, but Voltrank’s script is parsing their script with case sensitive enabled.  Therefore, Voltrank’s script couldn’t access VoltRank/vr_init_a0e4af.php file.

We could not connect to URL: “…./blog/wp-content/plugins/VoltRank/vr_init_a0e4af.php”. Response received: 301.

So to fix this problem, I have to remove URL rewrite on my web.config file.  If someone has any solution other than removing the URL rewrite functionalities, them I’m all ears.

Night Vision [Portrait from Photo]

Posted on January 31, 2013 by Loc Pham

As I journey through the beautiful country side of Vietnam on this train, I see the need to record these visions. The visions from the Artist’s Viewpoint. A viewpoint that I would take amiss if not cared for and not nurtured carefully.

This very moment is Friday; the night of 18th November 2011 and is my first experience on the express train from Saigon to Da Nang. With all said and done, I repeat… it’s Friday’s night. What vision is there to see at night, what beauty is there to observe in the dark, what feeling does this night excites me?

Looking from an artist’s viewpoint, there are countless angles and perspectives which excites me on this train. The viewpoint I’m standing allow me to see all lovely Vietnamese people resting on their seats, yarning through their tiresome, laughing through their conversations and myriad activities happening at this very moment. Despite all the madness which occurs around me, I rest peacefully on my headset with wonderful instrumental music enduring me through the journey from the South to the Central region of Vietnam.

This short writing seems very much similar to a journal, in fact it is an introductory diary of this trip viewing everything from a perspective I’m hoping to see beauty in all things. Through these series of blogs, I will capture nature’s kindness and beauties given to us.

The popularities of oil paintings in societies and the degree of engagement it has on the viewers…

The above unfinished-statement invites us to observe oil painting deeper to understand their impacts on the artist and the viewers.  With probable agreements, most people enjoy oil painting because the work-of-art has a personal interrelation with the viewers.  Personal experiences and memories expressed in the painting draw viewers closer to the artist, hence, making the painting and viewers inseparable.  For financial motivations, there are collectors whom buy paintings for personal or corporate investments.  Their pursuance of the piece-of-art may have no personal interrelation with the artist nor the subject expressed in the paintings.  Regardless, the investor must see the embodied values the painting carries to influence the investor to buy.  Everyone is entitled to his or her own interest but in this article, motives driven from investments viewpoint will be placed aside; the inter-connection between the artist, their artwork and the viewers will be elaborated.

When we enjoy artwork completed by an artist, often time, we seek to understand the processing technique, the mood of the color, the medium used, the detail strokes and the effort put in.  Consolidating all of these factors, the viewer would then bind the artwork with a fixed value: expensive, poor, beautiful, freed etc.  That is a common process most people would go through when presented with an artwork.

Perceptible changes in viewers’ impressions are seen when presented with self-oil-portraits or artworks that establish an intimate connection with the viewers.  These types of paintings do not quite follow the same analytical process.  The viewer audiences immediately flashback and relate himself or herself to the memorable moment express in the painting.  For this exact reason, art beauty is often time indescribable because the spirit outweigh the artistry execution.  Hence, one viewer may see the painting with high enthusiasm while others may exhibit complete foreignness feeling.  A significant question to put on the table is how luxury it is to acquire such personal painting.

In the older days, acquiring a self-portrait demand the subject character to pose long hours in front of the portraitist.  Any alteration to pose position would risk damaging and create uncertainties in the final painting.  This difficulty multiplies when the painting is a family portrait including more than one character.  Consequently, this process makes it challenging for anyone to find the time and the strength to endure until the painting completes.  From an economical point of view, this process incurs extremely high pricing to complete one self-portrait.  Depends on the artist’s reputation, a self-portrait may range from $1,500-$35,000 and only the wealthy would be able to afford.

With the aid of today’s photographic camera, self-portrait is effortless from the consumers’ point of view.  Customers would send in their favorite photograph to the portraitist to commission the painting capturing the exact figures with emotion and feeling.  This technique relieves the customer from finding time to pose in front of portraitist for long hours.  If multiple family members are living distant from each other, portraitist may also combine multiple characters from multiple photographs and harmonize them into one final oil canvas.  Not only is this a convenient process to commission a self/family oil portrait, it is also economical as well.  Artists are no longer required to rent spacious studio for customers to pose and still photographs would never re-position the figure differently, making the paint process quicker and affordable.

There are numerous sources on the web that service Picture to Painting, here at ArtistViewpoint.com, Picture to Painting is 100% satisfaction guaranteed and is done by professional portraitists.  The duration to complete a Picture to Oil Painting takes approximately ten days and pricing is very competitive since no spacious area is required.

Whether the demand is a wedding oil portrait, anniversary oil portrait, graduation oil portrait or self-oil portrait, ArtistViewpoint.com guarantees satisfaction and is confident in delivery a completely personal oil masterpiece that would endure a lifetime memories.

Khai Dinh emperor’s mausoleum

Posted on January 31, 2013 by Loc Pham
No comments

Demonstrations of a King’s power oftentimes were revealed through the powerful sovereign of the emperor’s greater conquered territory, the accomplishments during his throne, the army under his command, the monuments he had built and his tomb which the King never get to see to its completion.  In Hue, I get to visit some of these locations.

At the central location of Viet Nam lies Thua Thien Hue province, where Kings and Queens of the past ruled.  Hue is the imperial capital of the Nguyen dynasty and famous for its monuments and architecture.  Inside the citadel is the Imperial City protected with concealed walls.  The citadel is also surrounded by moat taking water from the Perfume River that flows through Hue.  And most importantly within the Imperial City lived the Kings and Queens along with all the royal families.  This imperial enclosure is called The Purple Forbidden City.  As mentioned, the emperor must reveal his power to his people and this is no doubt seen through the structure and rigidness of citadel’s gate which serve as sanctionative purposes.

Outside of the imperial city are mausoleums built by many Kings during his throne.  There are three major king’s tombs in Hue that are definitely worth spending time visiting:  King Minh Mang’s tomb, King Tu Duc’s tomb, and King Khai Dinh’s tomb.  Khai Dinh’s tomb is probably the most fascinating tomb of all and this king’s character is also the most concerned and most talked about.

Khai Dinh came to throne in 1916 at the age of 31 with a taboo name of Nguyễn Phúc Bửu Đảo.  This king was not respected by the people due to his playful character and gambling habits.  Khai Dinh designed flashy gowns wearable by himself and by protector guards.  The King had twelve wives but only one son, Vĩnh Thụy (which was King Bảo Đại).  Many debates circulate around his homosexuality condition and doubtful infertile state.  If the King is truly infertile, then another important question remains, is King Bảo Đại the righteous heir successor to the throne?

Khai Dinh came to throne during the era of the French colonial regime.  This King became very unpopular among the Vietnamese people and was considered the powerless puppetry for the French colonizers; submissive and standed in-close collaboration with the French government to oppose independent movements. [Wiki referenced: 1, 2]

In the year 1920, tomb construction in preparation of Khai Dinh’s death began.  His tomb’s was considered the most costly tomb ever built by all Viet Nam’s emperors.  Its formation is the mixture of numerous Eastern and Western architecture styles around the world and various religious beliefs:  Roman, Gothique, Hinduism, Buddhism and etc.  The tomb was designed and architected by many famous artisans recruited throughout Viet Nam.  Construction materials and design ornaments were shipped from China and Japan.

The incurred expensive cost of Khai Dinh’s tomb construction became the peak of his unpopularity among the Vietnamese people.  Khai Dinh asked the French government to allow him to increase tax by thirty percent to fund his lavish mausoleum.  The increased peasant’s taxation stirred angers and criticism for his erratic actions.   The lavish mausoleum completed in 1931, after eleven years of costly construction.  The tomb was completed by Khai Dinh’s successor after the King’s death.

Although many immoral acts constitute the formation of Khai Dinh’s mausoleum, this tomb is regard as one of Vietnam’s most beautiful and prestige tomb standing today.  Perhaps there are too many negative thoughts attached to Khai Dinh’s mausoleum, there is another beautiful viewpoint which must be understood by the present generation.  Khai Dinh chose Châu Chữ Mountain to build his tomb on the incline landscape.  Within the mausoleum’s grounds are standing solders and tall pillars.  The landscape and the architecture convey Khai Dinh’s desire of insurrection against foreign colonizer, reinstate an emperor’s power and let loose his puppetry role.  If nothing pretty came out of Khai Dinh’s empire, then at least his desire must also be every Vietnamese’s desire… independent nation and fight away all foreign regimes!

Hai Van pass

Posted on January 31, 2013 by Loc Pham

The Hải Vân Pass (Vietnamese: Đèo Hải Vân, “ocean cloud pass”), is an approximately 2 mile long mountain pass on National Road 1A in Vietnam. It traverses a spur of the larger Annamite Range that juts into the South China Sea, on the border of Đà Nẵng and Thừa Thiên-Huế Province, near Bach Ma National Park. Its name refers to the mists that rise from the sea, reducing visibility. Historically, the pass was a physical division between the kingdoms of Champa and Dai Viet.[1]

The twisting road on the pass has long been a challenge for drivers traveling between the cities of Huế and Đà Nẵng. Since the completion of Hai Van Tunnel, traffic flow and safety have improved.[1] The pass has been the scene of at least two of Vietnam’s most serious rail accidents, and at least one air crash. [Wiki referenced]

From Da Nang city, Hai Van Pass was the must see “seanic” road path on my list.  On the motor bike from Son Tra peninsula not so distant from Da Nang metropolitan, the sky was clear and the weather was moderately warm.  My expectation with the weather and visibility after reaching the peak of Hai Van Pass would be the opposition of the current standing position…

Around the peninsula, the elevation slowly rise as the large Buddha monument, Bai But rest area and Bai Rang resort were passed.  At these two beautiful beach bays, seafood were enjoyed with affordable pricing. Circling back from Son Tra peninsula is the calm sea link connecting to the start of Hai Van Pass.

At the bottom of Hai Van Pass, my vague childhood memories began to sink in. I once traveled on this pass long long time ago on an automobile and at that time, I was frightened.  Now, that fear is being substituted with excitements and full of joy as I envision the height of the Annamite Range and the densed misty cloud.  If I say fear were completely disappeared then perhaps I’m not quite being honest with myself. There was other fear up-heat by some villagers, since the completion of Hai Van tunnel, regard road rage and bandits on the pass because the road is left empty and less travelers use it.  Regardless, I traveled and proceed with my scenic and historic pass.

At the top of Hai Van Pass is the remaining historic artifacts of watched tower built by Viet Nam’s king Minh Mang (1791-1840). More recently on Hai Van peak is the blockhouse built by the French during colonized period as defensive strong fort. What is more significant to observe at the peak, beside the repeated breathless oceanic and heroic mountain views, is the division line between Hue province and Da Nang city.

Continue down from the top of Hai Van peak are the remaining half of coastline scenic beauty. Caution must be carefully taken when driving down the steep mountain road to avoid accidental incident. Arriving at the bottom of Hai Van pass is the jaw dropping scene of Lang Co bay; accepted as the world’s most beautiful bay by the WorldBay Club.

Hoi An authenticity heritage

Posted on January 31, 2013 by Loc Pham

The moment I walked the street of Ancient Town Hoi An is the moment I painted my dream home.

That sentence say it all about my impression and my viewpoint of Hoi An’s Ancient Town. It’s a town full of of life, artistic at all perspectives and preserves the authenticity heritage of Viet Nam.

Alike most other towns, Hoi An functions normally during the morning and noon hours. Unlike most other towns, Hoi An makes its transition at approximately 3:00pm. Motor bikes would be forbidden to make room for bicycles and walkway. At three O’Clock, the city slowly emit its artistry and peacefulness. The scents of alstonia scholaris gives off fragrance. Everything begin to calm down… but for a very brief period of time. This brief moment almost seems like the city’s pausing note to prepare for its upcoming transition.

Hoi An then bloom and glows at the start of dawn. The mixture of rusty yellow and uneven aged houses truly gives Hoi An an unique theme. The addition of green moss on wall building textured the city to make stationary walls and huts danced lively together.  Everything were all seem unplanned yet feel absolutely harmonious.  Perhaps… a Protecter has always been a quiet guardian to Hoi An Ancient Town all these years….

Hoi An is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and have inspired hundreds of artists to paint this small town.

Moses’ on barefoot

Spending the remaining morning at Da Nang city, I attended Sunday’s Holy Mass at the Cathedral of Da Nang to celebrate Our Lord Jesus Christ the King. At the Cathedral, it was a different viewpoint, a different perspective, a different feeling at a completely different settings. This was my first presence at Da Nang city and the language spoken here brought the foreignness-feeling.  At the sometime, I felt connected by our Catholic Church which bond and attach all of us brothers and sisters living and sharing the same believe in our Jesus Christ the King.

“Protect me O Lord, so that I may worship You
Grant me strength so I may have victory over myself
Conquer my heart so I may find inner peace…”

The hymn were repeatedly uttered through the duration of Mass.  This Sunday’s Mass energizes our believes, cleanse our sins and spiritualize our lives…

As I slowly moved to receive the Eucharist, an astonishing scene were at my viewpoint: Children of the Cathedral with shoes off on the alter.

“Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” (Exodus 3:2-5)

If there was one Moses during the Exodus, then there are classes of Moses today at the Cathedral of Da Nang…

Hoi An special cuisine: Banh Bao, Banh Vac, Hoanh Thanh

The lingering memories of Hoi An demanded me to write a little more of it. The sceneries of Hoi An city at dawn have already spoken for; its beauty cannot be denied. The viewpoint that deserves more attention is Hoi An’s cuisine

Wandering the roads in Hoi An, special cuisines were recommended by the restaurant owner standing on the street pavement: Banh Bao, Banh Vac, and Hoanh Thanh. These names are common and are well-known throughout Viet Nam. However, at Hoi An, these special cuisines surprised every new customers because the serving dishes are quite different than their anticipation. Beside presentation and characteristics, these hot delicious dishes are tasty with common ingredients: pineapple, dried rice platter, onion, shrimp and secreted dipping sauce.

Of all three dishes, my most favorite Hoi An food is Hoanh Thanh. The look and smell of this dish made me not wanting to resist; and once ate, its exquisite taste made me not wanting to stop….

There are numerous restaurants in Hoi An that serve these dishes; normally all three dishes are serve together: Banh Bao, Banh Vac, and Hoanh Thanh.  The restaurant I enjoyed Hoanh Thanh most was at the ring border of Hoi An Ancient Town on Hai Ba Trung street.
